Acclimatising plants to the great outdoors is made easier with a cold frame. It might come as a shock to you and your plants, but, poorly acclimatised plants don’t grow as well as their contemporaries who have been hardened-off.
A coldframes is a friend. You can use it throughout the year. In spring and early summer, to harden off young plants; in winter to protect your alpines. Unlike a glasshouse, these frames can be moved to where they are needed …
