The aim of this guide is to give inspiration. With quite a few variables, including size, type of wood and fixings you can make one to your ownspec. You don’t have to do it this way at all!
My brief
I had a space under my kitchen window one metre wide and tall. I wanted to make a planter for herbs, since my current herb pot is full – and need replacing.
I like the idea of a vertical planter. So drew up this design, not free standing – it leans against the wall.
I had 600mm in front of the window for it to protrude. So, with that in mind I set to calculating the wood required.
